Job Description
Design protective relay and control settings by applying principles and techniques of electrical power engineering. Model power systems and protection schemes and perform analyses and studies. Perform arc-flash studies in accordance with industry standards. Assist in writing proposals.
Relay Settings Electrical Engineer
Location: Baton Rouge, LA (On-site, 5 days per week)
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in relay settings, a PE license, and expertise in working with Schweitzer relays, microprocessor-based, and electromechanical relays. This is an on-site position, requiring attendance at our Baton Rouge office five days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement relay settings for protection systems.
- Perform analysis, testing, and troubleshooting of protective relay systems.
- Work with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) relays.
- Handle both microprocessor-based and electromechanical relays.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with other engineers and field teams to optimize system reliability.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in relay settings and power system protection.
- experience with modelling software – Aspen, Cape, & E-tap
- Hands-on experience with Schweitzer relays (SEL).
- Experience with both microprocessor-based and electromechanical relays.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
