Job Description
Occupational therapy can help you participate in life activities (occupations) and provide recommendations for: Activities of daily living (such as bathing, dressing, and eating) Adaptive equipment (such as shower chairs, or equipment to make daily tasks easier) Caregiver and family training.
Occupational Therapist (OT)
The Occupational Therapist (OT) will be responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing occupational therapy plans for patients in an outpatient rehabilitation setting, with coverage responsibilities in acute and inpatient rehab as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient evaluations, treatment planning, and discharge planning within an outpatient rehab setting.
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams (Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Athletic Trainers, and Rehab Techs) to provide holistic patient care.
- Document patient progress, ensuring compliance with medical necessity guidelines, insurance authorizations, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage patient caseload efficiently, maintaining timely documentation and treatment schedules.
- Ensure proper insurance prior authorizations are obtained for occupational therapy services.
- Participate in departmental meetings and hospital-wide continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide coverage for inpatient rehab and acute care settings as needed.
- Stay updated on occupational therapy best practices, maintaining licensing requirements and continuing education credits.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- Active North Carolina Occupational Therapist License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Nice-To-Haves:
- Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
