Job Description

A ER EMT Technician, is a healthcare professional who works within a hospital's emergency department, providing immediate medical assistance to patients by taking vital signs, assisting with basic procedures, preparing patients for treatment, and supporting doctors and nurses in a fast-paced environment, all while following established medical protocols and maintaining patient safety; essentially acting as a key support role in the emergency room by performing tasks like monitoring patient condition, administering basic life support, and preparing necessary supplies under the direction of medical professionals.

ER EMT Technician- FT 

Under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or Registered Nurse, in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Nursing delegation and supervision guidelines, assists with a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities.

These include:

• Assistance with activities of daily living, comfort care and nutritional support.
• Performance of selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and procedures as directed.
• Indirect patient care activities include maintaining a clean safe environment, ensuring adequate inventory of supplies and equipment, and data collection as pertinent to the patient population.
• Transports patients in hospital observing safety guidelines. Maintains advanced transport medical knowledge and abilities.

Qualifications
Experience: One year EMT-Advanced, EMT-Intermediate or Paramedic experience preferred.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Certified in the State of Virginia as an EMT-Advanced, EMT-Intermediate or EMT-Paramedic (required) and maintains National Registered status (preferred). AHA BLS - HCP, and ACLS required. PALS, Haz Mat Awareness, NRP and PHTLS or BTLS required within one year from date of hire.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must maintain continuing education hours to meet re-certification status as required by State and National standards.
