Innovative Product Design Engineering Role – Drive Emerging Technologies
As a key member of our cross-functional engineering team, you will help to develop, test, and implement advanced fastener designs for industrial applications, leveraging your expertise in the automotive, aerospace, railway, or construction industries. You will work to optimize existing technologies for multi-use non-medical markets and explore fresh solutions to complex engineering challenges.
Responsibilities – New Product Engineering & Development
- Identify and define product requirements, generating inventive fastener design concepts tailored for diverse industrial customers.
- Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks, ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable, and cost efficient.
- Collaborate closely with simulation partners to develop and refine product designs using FEA, FMEA, material selection, and failure analysis.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing processes to enhance Design for Manufacturability and ensure smooth design transfer to production.
- Develop and execute validation and test protocols, interpret engineering results, and assemble test reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead regular design reviews, maintain organized design documentation, and participate in industry events and cross-team activities.
- Effectively manage time and project milestones, participating in both technical and leadership activities to ensure project success.
Leadership & Project Management in New Product Design Engineering
- Participate in and, where needed, lead project planning, resource coordination, and progress reviews.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to product development team members, drawing on internal and external expertise as needed.
- Communicate proactively with all project stakeholders about schedules, budgets, and any design or project-related issues.
- Create and deliver effective presentations for both internal teams and external partners.
Qualifications & Experience – New Product Engineer Austin
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 7 years’ relevant experience, or Master’s degree plus 5 years, or PhD and 3 years' experience.
- Prior experience with fastener product design in automotive, aerospace, railway, or construction applications is required.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial approach—comfortable working independently and eager to tackle new challenges.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and design optimization tools including SolidWorks and simulation software such as ANSYS (or comparable).
- Skilled project manager with excellent organizational, communication, and technical presentation capabilities.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
